Volunteering

South Africa
In my spare time I enjoyed Volunteering at a free clinic in Rural Muldersdrift where I would do HIV/AIDS rapid ELISA testing and TB wheel testing. I also assisted in vaccination of babies and general testing and diagnosis of diseases and STI's

While studying, I volunteered at a facility called Headways, which is a facility for brain injured persons, where I participated in the physiotherapy of these persons. As a volunteer I also participated in the creative building of these persons, speech therapy and games and communication skills. http://www.headway-gauteng.org/

Thailand
During my spare time in Thailand I volunteered as a translator at an animal clinic for the following languages: English, Dutch and Thai (basic)

I also have a blog where university students supply questions about any HSE/Environmental issues and I help by supplying references; books; articles and advice.

Australia
During my studies here in Australia I have been working on a part time basis for small companies who need to implement and manage their Management systems (ISO 18001; 14001 and 9001) as well as volunteering for the Geography, Planning and environmental Management Faculty and an International Student Consultant.

New Zealand
While waiting for my Work Permit documentation to come through, I started volunteering as a receptionist for Housing New Zealand, where I did numerous administrative tasks. I then proceeded to additionally volunteer at the Environmental Centre in Hastings which was run by Sustaining Hawkes Bay Trust (http://www.shbt.org.nz/) where I was involved in creating new idea's for workshops; a link between the community and local businesses and putting together the web page, as well as administration. This then got me involved in some community projects like penguin box planting.
